Allison Williams in Diane von Furstenberg at the Met Gala: on point?

Allison Williams looks so different as a blonde, right? I think that’s because I just saw Get Out and can’t imagine her as anything but brunette. (Rent that movie if you haven’t seen it yet!) This looks like a weird 40s facsimile of Allison Williams. That said, this black and white Diane von Furstenberg gown is stunning. The color blocking, the pointed bell sleeves, the asymmetric slight peplum and the little ruffle fold at the skirt all combine to make a gorgeous understated dress with thoughtful details. Look at the back this is elegant. Plus it has a little sheen to the fabric.

Emma Roberts was also in DVF, she was one of several women in bright red and the color is just about the only thing I like about this dress. Maybe it’s the wearer, but this is just a boring dress and I really dislike her makeup. Allison’s heavy makeup works somehow but Emma’s just looks clownish and like it was applied with no regard to the color she was wearing. That pink stole isn’t bad, it would be a fun accessory with a better dress.

Alexa Chung was similarly a snooze in a loose fitting DVF polka dot gown with a deep v neck. This would be underwhelming at Cannes. She has the opposite issue to Emma and Allison, Alexa’s makeup looks like she’s going to a day event. Alexander Skarsgard was also at the Met Gala looking hot, but I didn’t see him pose with Alexa. I wonder what’s up with them.
