Both of these acts are big names in the industry. Benny Benassi has been going for decades and has had a whole range of hits. However, he’s mostly known for his 2002 hit “Satisfaction” which became an international sensation, hitting number two in the UK and Hungary. Almost a decade later, he went viral a second time, with 2011 single “Cinema” featuring Gary Go; this song didn’t have as high peak chart success, however it did hit countries he hadn’t charted in, before, including appearing on a couple of the US Billboard Charts – the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles and Dance/Mix Show Airplay. Lately, he’s found success with the song “Paradise” featuring Chris Brown, which charted moderately well around the world. Link that alongside his extensive tour dates and you’ll find that he is one of the biggest DJs around at the moment.
Then there’s Sofi Tukker, one of the biggest rising duos, everybody is literally talking about them, and they’re so ready to go viral. The duo consists of Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern, and in our interview with them at BST Hyde Park, they stated that Benny Benassi is “just one of the nicest guys ever” and they regard him as one of their friends. Their most popular song is certainly “Best Friend” which was featured in an advert during Apple’s unveiling of the iPhone X which made the song go viral and it charted all over the world, they even scored a number one in Belgium and the Netherlands, and number two in Turkey; the song features Nervo, The Knocks, and Alisa Ueno. They recently released their debut album Treehouse.
The song itself was written by Andrea Mazzali, Giancarlo Constantin, Marco Benassi, Sophie Hawley-Weld, and Tucker Halpern. The music video is animation at its finest, featuring various animals in time to the music.
This visual is definitely entrancing. It draws you in from the very first second, as animals are displayed. It takes some time but you’ll notice their interactions and movements are in time to the music and are occasionally comical. You definitely won’t be forgetting this music video anytime soon.
