Biblically, Principalities and powers are levels of the presence of the devil and their demonic activities. Their primary reason is to injure, worry, distract, destroy, kill and confuse humans. All these are actions meant to get back at God for driving away the devil out of Heaven (Luke 10:18) and sealing his fate in hell.

Principalities and Powers in The Bible
Ephesians 6:12-18 offers this advice. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, Above all, taking the shield of faith, where with ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit and watching there unto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”
Colossians 2:14-15 declares “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross. And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”
Powers and Principalities
We are not fighting a visible enemy on our planet just as Eph 6:12 had said. This might be so much simpler if we were battling against flesh and blood because for those, at least we can see them; Paul was still “persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come” (Rom 8:38). Now most people wonder, why should we worry about these principalities and powers of the devil and his devilish acts? This is because Jesus Christ has already “disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it” (Col 2:15).
The Prince of Darkness
Our greatest and most real enemy is Satan. To him, he doesn’t need to do much hard work because the workshops already channelling their actions and attention to his ways without even realising it.
For the lost souls, Satan “the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (2nd Corinthians 4:4).
The unsaved children of the world don’t even have the conscience and eyes to see that there is a bigger problem ahead of them coming just as Revelation 20:12-15 has said.
